| Qatar Airways to Introduce Flights to Benghazi |
Air Travel NewsFriday, October 28, 2011Qatar Airways announced lately that it will commence regular flight operations to the Libyan port city of Benghazi from November 1. Qatar Airways serves the capital city of Tripoli in Libya but the airline was forced to suspend flights after different nations imposed a 'no-fly zone' over the African country during the political turbulence earlier this year. Qatar's flag carrier hopes to resume flights to Tripoli soon.  Airline's latest route to Benghazi, Libya's second largest city will be operational from Tuesday next week. It will be a four times a week non-stop flight from the capital city of Qatar, Doha. An Airbus A320, dual configuration aircraft will be carried out on the new route. The aircraft will feature 12 seats in First Class and 132 in Economy Class, providing sufficient opportunities for those looking for cheap flight tickets with Qatar Airways. The new addition is part of the carrier's route expansion strategy to integrate varied destinations in its network of flights. Oman Air's opulent lounges at Muscat International Airport have just been awarded ISO certification, subsequent to an audit by Intertek Semco Certification AB. The First Class and Business Class lounges, which were revealed earlier this year, have been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certificate in recognition of its quality management systems.
Richard Hodges, Oman Air's Chief Officer Hotels and Catering stated that were delighted to have been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification and to have had the high quality of the management systems at their Muscat lounges confirmed.
Every facet of both their First Class as well as Business Class lounges has been designed to deliver the ultimate in hospitality for the guests and they have developed management systems which aim to deliver consistently high standards throughout their operation.

Monday, October 10, 2011Air India Ltd may lessen or even discard its first-class seats on most international flights depending on the result of an internal study it is conducting to reconfigure seats on its fleet to enhance revenue.  Air India also hopes to reorganize timing of some of its US flights, such as those to New York, to enhance aircraft utilization and to slash idle time for the wide-body aircraft from the end of this month when the winter season kicks in. Demand for first-class seats, which can cost six times as much as an economy-class seat, has dropped as companies cut travel entitlements for top executives to save costs as the prospect of a second recession in the US in less than four years looms, European nations face a debt crisis as well as and rising interest rates in India crimp economic growth. Wednesday, August 3, 2011Jet Airways, the leading private sector airline in the country, has redesigned one of its Boeing-777 aircraft making a three-class configuration to proffer first class service on its Mumbai-Hong Kong flight.  Mr Paul Wu, Country Manager for Jet in Hong Kong stated that the new first class service commencing from August 21 will provide an exclusive all-new five-star in-flight service. He also added that the aim of Jet Airways was to ensure unmatched luxury, privacy as well comfort to their elite passengers. The first class suites on board will offer a personal cabin with sliding doors and an entirely flat bed and a dining table for two, besides the other usual business class facilities. Monday, June 13, 2011British Airways has launched First class on its daily flights to Las Vegas from London Heathrow as the airline increases its facility by 18 percent. The non-stop daily flights to Las Vegas from London Heathrow Terminal 5 introduced in October 2009 will be served by a four class Boeing 747, allowing clients to select from World Traveller(economy),World Traveller Plus (premium economy), Club World (business class) as well as the award-winning First Class.  By shifting to a Boeing 747, British Airways sends an extra 124 seats on every round-trip, including 14 seats in First. British Airways new First cabin allows clients to commence their holiday in comfort and creates an exclusive experience based on typical design and simple luxury. Wednesday, June 8, 2011Passengers checking in on flights to Dubai have the option of obtaining a more suitable boarding pass, as luxury airline Emirates has introduced a new mobile service. Smartphone users can get pleasure from a paperless travel experience, by downloading a mobile boarding pass after checking in online up to 24 hours in advance of their flight.  Mohammed H Mattar, senior vice president of airport services at Emirates stated that the mobile boarding pass puts flexibility and control entirely in the hands of their customers, while taking a small step towards reducing their environmental impact. The barcode boarding pass can be read at all check-in counters, airport security and immigration check points, including the Emirates First Class and Business Class lounges. Sunday, April 3, 2011Air India received tremendous success with its direct New Delhi-Chicago flights, which were launched on October 31 2010.  Jude Crasto, the manager of Air India in Chicago stated recently that there has been an increase in the number of passengers traveling. In addition he stated that there has also been a raise in first class and business class clients and the flight has been received very well and the public is very cheerful. The Air India flight in this route does'nt stop at Frankfurt, Germany, and the travel time has been reduced to 15 hours and 10 minutes. Crasto stated that for the New Delhi to Chicago flight, the European hub has been cancelled in order to give faster flying times and ongoing service is unparalleled. Continental Airlines stated recently that all of its Boeing 757-200 jets will be installed with lie-flat seats in business class.
Airlines are competing to put lie-flat seats into their premium cabins in order to lure travelers prepared to pay extra for comfort on long flights.  Continental has 41 Boeing 757-200s, which it utilizes on international flights connecting its hub at Newark, N.J., and Europe. In December, Continental fulfilled installing similar seats on its 22 Boeing 777 aircraft. Sister airline United stated that it will have 10 Boeing 777s with flat-bed seats in first class and business class in April and has put them in its Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft that is used on international flights. Lufthansa schedule will soon be extending the list of A380 destinations. From 10 May 2011, Lufthansa Airlines will operate a daily A380 service to the Californian city San Francisco under the present flight numbers LH 454 and LH 455, replacing the Boeing 747-400 service presently provided on this route.
 The new Lufthansa flagship is configured with 526 seats (8 in First Class, 98 in Business Class and 420 in Economy Class), providing passengers exceptional levels of comfort. Ticket prices for an A380 flight do not vary from regular fares on this route. Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, Lufthansa’s Head of Hub Management at Frankfurt stated that their customers were thrilled with their new flagship, and what draws most praise is the new, quiet cabin. Tuesday, February 1, 2011Emirates is strengthening its operations in Northern Europe by including additional flights to Austria and Germany on the back of fresh route announcements into Switzerland and Denmark. Four extra flights will be added to the airline's daily service to Vienna commencing 27th March. The additional Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights will be served by an Airbus A340-500, providing 12 First Class Private Suites, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 204 seats in Economy Class.  Beginning 1st September, Emirates daily flight to Hamburg becomes dual daily. The additional frequencies are supported by a Boeing 777-200, also in a three class configuration. Salem Obaidalla, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation stated that by offering these extra flights, they were responding to strong requirements for added capacity on the Vienna and Hamburg routes. The strengthened services will promote new business and tourism to two of their main European destinations and offer even more suitable connections to onward travel through their international hub of Dubai. Monday, January 17, 2011Qantas Airways will introduce flights from Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth this May, with the return leg routing through Brisbane. On the other hand, the airline will drop existing flights from Sydney to San Francisco. The four times-weekly service (departing Sydney on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) will begin on May 16,2011 using Boeing 747-400 aircraft. The outbound leg will operate directly from Sydney to Dallas, while the inbound leg will route via Brisbane.  Interestingly Qantas says that the flight is being sold as a three-class offering (as opposed to the usual four-class economy, premium economy, business class and first class offering). As a consequence of the new Dallas service,Qantas route between Sydney and San Francisco will be dropped on May 14. The carrier will also develop its commercial relationship with fellow Oneworld member American Airlines, whose chief hub is at Dallas Fort Worth. Passionate travel enthusiasts and devoted readers of 'Business Traveler' magazine have once again selected American Airlines as their preferred airline for First Class travel. This is the third consecutive year American Airlines is presented with this award.
8000 arbitrarily chosen 'Business Traveler' subscribers participated in Business Traveler's 2010 Best in Business Travel Survey. Selections for the open-ended survey were submitted and finalized in mid-September and very lately the results were announced - American Airlines has been granted "Best North American Airline for First Class Service." Friday, July 2, 2010Air China has announced that it will increase first and business class ticket prices for 43 domestic routes starting July 1. The airline is the foremost to raise prices subsequent to the decision of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the National Development and Reform Commission to begin open pricing for first as well as business class seats.  The price of first and business class tickets on flights from Beijing to Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou will be increased to a maximum of 230 and 180 percent, respectively, of that of coach tickets. First and business class ticket prices for all other flights will be enlarged to a maximum of 200 and 150 percent, respectively, of that of economy class tickets. Air China will also include discount tickets for first and business class on the 43 routes, which will range between 145-200 and 120-150 percent, respectively, of economy class ticket prices. Thursday, May 20, 2010German flag-carrier Lufthansa has inaugurated its fresh A380 super jumbo service, assuring that the first class cabin is the quietest in the world. The A380 will take off Lufthansa's busy Frankfurt to Tokyo route from June 11, after carrying the German national football team to South Africa for the World Cup and making its appearance at the Berlin Air Show.  Lufthansa says that clients were significantly involved in the expansion of the new flag carrier, and that a calm atmosphere emerged as one of the most important needs of first class passengers. As such, the first class cabin is equipped with sound-absorbing carpets, curtains and the aircraft's skin consists of a sound-insulating material.Traditional overhead bins have been detached in favor of individual lockers for first class passengers, and an enlarged washroom also consists of separate wash and changing areas. Lufthansa's A380 aircraft can accommodate a total of 526 passengers - eight in first, 98 in business class and 420 in economy class.
