Malaysia Airlines New Airbus 330-300 Aircraft Flies To Melbourne as well as Adelaide |
Air Travel NewsTuesday, August 30, 2011Effective 26 September 2011, customers of Malaysia Airlines traveling to and from Adelaide and Melbourne will be able to experience the latest state of the art product when the award winning carrier launches the new Airbus 330-300 aircraft. Malaysia Airlines provides twice daily services from Melbourne and six times weekly services from Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur with convenient connections to over 100 destinations. Malaysia Airlines' Regional Senior Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and S.W. Pacific Ignatius Ong stated that the introduction of this new aircraft demonstrates the importance we place on the South Australian and Victorian market. He also added that it will offer a better product to their discerning customers and at the same time, local and overseas visitors will have access to their vast network on a more premium product offerings. The innovative interior will consist of mood lighting in all cabins and spacious overhead baggage compartments. The novel A330-300 has a total capacity of 283 seats, 36 seats in Business class and 247 seats in Economy class. All seats will be outfitted with AC power supply and USB port for laptops and electronic equipment. The Dallas-based carrier will make its arrival at Hartsfield-Jackson International, introducing 15 daily flights from Atlanta to five diverse cities. The declaration of the date follows Southwest’s purchase of AirTran Airways in May. It presently operates AirTran as a subsidiary but does not fly its own planes to Atlanta. That will vary in February when Southwest jets commences flying between Atlanta and Austin, Baltimore/Washington, Denver, Houston Hobby and Chicago Midway. AirTran by now flies to all of those cities except Austin, to which Southwest is adding as a new route. In the months following that, Southwest and AirTran will blend operations and ultimately AirTran jets will be repainted in Southwest colors. Southwest does not charge fees for the first two checked bags and no change fees. Additionally it also has all coach-class as well as open seating.Those policies will be in operation for the Southwest service begining in Atlanta in February. Until operations are fully integrated, AirTran will continue to charge for baggage and provide business class seats. The Hong Kong flag carrier has set aside the daily Sydney-Hong Kong service CX100 and CX101 for aircraft which have been upgraded to have room for the 28 new seats sandwiched between the airline's new business class and economy sections. CEO John Slosar has in the past pledged to convey something special, not just an economy seat and call it premium. Cathay Pacific has yet to formally announce its new class of travel and divulge the seats and extra services you'll get. Earlier this year Alex McGowan, Cathay's General Manager for Product, revealed his 'premium economy playbook' to Australian Business Traveller by suggesting as a silent cabin, a more elite environment, with a bigger more comfortable armchair that one can really sink into, recline and relax in. With the service, Korean Air became the first airline to deploy a A380 on a frequently scheduled flight across the Pacific from New York. Korean Air is also the first A380 livery so far to feature a dominant color other than white. With just 407 seats on its A380, Korean Air's version of the superjumbo jet is configured with fewer seats than any other passenger airline presently flying it. The airline had already promised the most spacious A380 anywhere last fall when it began to disclose the first details as to how it would layout the inside of the aircraft. Labels: Korean Air, United States Thursday, August 18, 2011Malaysia Airlines passengers will witness several changes to Australia flights commencing next month, as the airline shuffles its planes around on Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth services. The news is enormously good for business class passengers, as it means more flights on the airline's new Airbus A330-300 planes, with an updated business class offering. In Adelaide, passengers will view the new A330 cabins rolled out on all flights, replacing the older Boeing 777-200ER planes, from Sept 26. In Melbourne, both daily Melbourne-Kuala Lumpur flights will obtain the new A330 cabins, which is also from 26 September. In Perth, the situation is slightly trickier. From 26 September to 29 October, Malaysia Airlines is actually plummeting flights from 10 per week to 9. All Perth flights will view older Boeing 777-200ER planes and cabins. Between 30 October and 30 November, Perth will persist in seeing older planes and cabins, but MH127 to Perth on Saturdays and MH126 from Perth on Sundays will be on the older Airbus A330. Subsequent to 1 December and until 14 February, most Perth flights will see the older Airbus A330.After 15 February, all Perth flights ,which is around ten a week will view the new A330-300 planes and cabins. A daily service from Abu Dhabi to Nairobi will start on April 1 next year, operated by a two class A320 aircraft with 16 Pearl Business class and 120 Coral Economy seats. Nairobi becomes the 72nd destination in Etihad’s global network and the return flights will create a new link connecting the two capital cities of Kenya and the United Arab Emirates. The airline‘s Chief Executive Officer, Mr James Hogan, stated that this new route will permit Etihad to tap into huge traffic flows between East Africa, North Asia, and the Indian Subcontinent. Operating thrice a week, the non-stop service from the airline’s hub in Doha, will take the carrier’s capacity to China up to 28 flights a week. The new Chongqing service will be operated with an Airbus A330 in a two-class that includes business and economy configuration. An airline spokesman stated that with a population of just over 30 million people,Chongqing has a fat industrial catchment area and is a major example of Qatar Airways placing strategic importance into rising cities around the world. Peter Hill stated that a handful of the flag airline’s Boeing 737 aircraft could be reconfigured to proffer economy-only seating for routes with superior demand for budget travel. He also has stated that they were looking at new seating arrangements. One option is the introduction of all-economy services, as demand for business class in some of the subcontinent markets is low, so that needs to be reflected with seat utilization. He added that he expects around four or five of those aircraft will obtain all-economy arrangements. Mr Paul Wu, Country Manager for Jet in Hong Kong stated that the new first class service commencing from August 21 will provide an exclusive all-new five-star in-flight service. He also added that the aim of Jet Airways was to ensure unmatched luxury, privacy as well comfort to their elite passengers. The first class suites on board will offer a personal cabin with sliding doors and an entirely flat bed and a dining table for two, besides the other usual business class facilities.
