| Korean Air's A380 Makes its Debut In the United States |

With the service, Korean Air became the first airline to deploy a A380 on a frequently scheduled flight across the Pacific from New York. Korean Air is also the first A380 livery so far to feature a dominant color other than white. With just 407 seats on its A380, Korean Air's version of the superjumbo jet is configured with fewer seats than any other passenger airline presently flying it. The airline had already promised the most spacious A380 anywhere last fall when it began to disclose the first details as to how it would layout the inside of the aircraft. Korean Air has ordered 10 A380 aircraft with the first 5 to be delivered by the end of 2011 and the left behind five by 2014. The airline will gradually develop its A380 services to popular short-haul routes in Asia, such as Bangkok from mid-July, followed by long-haul routes to chief destinations in Europe and North America, such as New York in August, Paris in September as well as Los Angeles in October 2011. Korean Air is configured in a three-class layout with something like 407 seats in total, the lowest configuration of any A380 operator thus far. Korean Air’s double-decker A380s feature 12 First Class Kosmo Suites and 301 Economy Class seats on the main lower deck, and 94 lie-flat Prestige Sleeper seats in Prestige Class(business class) on the upper deck. Korean Air, the country’s top air carrier, announced lately that it would introduce a novel two-story A380 aircraft that consists of only Business Class seats on the second floor in May.
![]() The 407 seat aircraft, constructed in partnership with Airbus, will be composed of 12 First Class, 94 Business Class and 301 Economy Class seats.The cabin spaces will be wider than those in the present airplanes operated by Korean Air and it is expected to launch social areas for its customers due to the amplified space. The air carrier plans to present a total of five A380 aircraft by the end of subsequent year and in addition will initiate another group of five by 2014. The new aircraft will originally fly to close by city destinations like Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok, but it will be utilized for long-term flights to the Americas and Europe from August.
