Emirates announced lately that it is introducing two additional flights per week to Tunisian capital Tunis. This makes the number of Emirates flights traveling to Tunis to around 6.The increased services will add approximately 3,800 seats per month in each direction, targeting improved numbers of business travelers and tourists.

Jean Luc Grillet, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Africa stated that Tunis is a noteworthy market for Emirates and these additional flights are an evidence to their increasing presence in the market since they began operations to Tunisia five years ago.

He also stated that more services means additional flexibility and choice as well as this enables easy connections to points across the Far and Middle East, Indian sub-continent, Europe and Australasia via the airline's hub in Dubai.

German Airline Lufthansa to Commence non-stop Flights

German airline Lufthansa will upgrade its Doha-Frankfurt service to a non-stop flight from October 30 thus eliminating the intermediary landing in Riyadh and slash travel time connecting Qatar and the European country.

Flights from Qatar were earlier operated from Doha to Frankfurt via Riyadh.With the opening of the winter time table 2011/12, which goes into effect on October 30, Lufthansa will offer six weekly non-stop flights from Doha to Frankfurt.

The new service reduces the flight time from 7.30 hours to 5.45 hours for passengers departing from Frankfurt and from 8.25 hours to 6.50 hours for those departing from Doha.

British Airways Includes First and Business Class to London-Moscow Flights

British Airways has declared that passengers flying from London to Moscow on direct flights will be able to book First Class and Business Class seats from next April.

The global airline functions with three return flights to Moscow Domodedevo Airport from London Heathrow per day. Presently these routes are part of a short-haul service with just two cabins.

The service will be upgraded to a long-haul operation providing customers up to 4 classes of travel from next April. No other airline presently offers such a premium service on the four hour flight connecting London and Moscow.

Customers flying First and Business Class with BA will be able to enjoy the facilities of fully flat-beds and comprehensive in-flight entertainment on the four-hour flight, as well as a wide-ranging in-flight food and drink menu.

Air Jamaica Recommences Orlando-Kingston Flights

Air Jamaica has relaunched continuous flights to Orlando from Kingston Jamaica, effective right away.

A Boeing 737-800 aircraft equipped with 154 seats-16 in Business Class, and 138 in Economy will make the flights operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Will Rodgers, Acting General Manager of Air Jamaica stated that reintroducing the non-stop service to Orlando-the fifth largest metropolitan area in the Southeast US is a significant milestone in their strategy to strengthen operations.

With the addition of the new flights, Air Jamaica, that is named as the Caribbean’s Leading Airline by the World Travel Awards in 2009, currently operates 136 departures weekly to six destinations in the US, Canada and the Caribbean-New York, Philadelphia, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Toronto and Nassau.

Lufthansa Introduces New non-stop Flight From Doha to Frankfurt

Lufthansa Airlines will upgrade its Doha-Frankfurt service to a non-stop operation, removing the intermediate landing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the commencement of the fresh time table on October 30.This will reduce the total travel time connecting Qatar's capital, Doha and Lufthansa's global gateway in Frankfurt, contributing to an even better travel experience.

With the introduction of the winter time table 2011/12, going into effect on 30 October 2011, Lufthansa will provide six weekly non-stop flights from Doha to Frankfurt. Previously, flights from the Qatari capital were directed from Doha via Riyadh to Frankfurt.

Peter Pollak,Lufthansa's General Manager UAE and Director Gulf, Afghanistan and Iraq stated that Qatar is one of the most active growth markets in the Gulf region and it has long been on their wish list to bring a non-stop Lufthansa service to the Doha-Frankfurt route.

KLM to Introduce Luanda Flights

Commencing 14 November 2011, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will introduce planned flights connecting Amsterdam and Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda, Angola.Luanda will turn out to be KLM’s 71st intercontinental destination.

Luanda will be the fifth global destination to be opened up by KLM this winter apart from the formerly announced scheduled services to Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Havana and Punta Cana.

Twice-weekly service will be provided to Luanda using Boeing 777-200 equipment. This aircraft type offers seats for 318 passengers; 35 in World Business Class and 283 in Economy Class. Together with Air France, KLM will be providing a total of four weekly flights to Luanda.

Introducing flights to oil destination Luanda will serve to fortify KLM’s position in Africa. The Air France KLM Group will be serving 45 destinations in Africa this winter.

Southwest Service Will Reach Atlanta in February

February 2012 will be a great day for travelers who've long hoped for Southwest Airlines to come to Atlanta.

The Dallas-based carrier will make its arrival at Hartsfield-Jackson International, introducing 15 daily flights from Atlanta to five diverse cities.

The declaration of the date follows Southwest’s purchase of AirTran Airways in May. It presently operates AirTran as a subsidiary but does not fly its own planes to Atlanta.

That will vary in February when Southwest jets commences flying between Atlanta and Austin, Baltimore/Washington, Denver, Houston Hobby and Chicago Midway. AirTran by now flies to all of those cities except Austin, to which Southwest is adding as a new route.

In the months following that, Southwest and AirTran will blend operations and ultimately AirTran jets will be repainted in Southwest colors.

Southwest does not charge fees for the first two checked bags and no change fees. Additionally it also has all coach-class as well as open seating.Those policies will be in operation for the Southwest service begining in Atlanta in February.

Until operations are fully integrated, AirTran will continue to charge for baggage and provide business class seats.

Hawaiian Airlines Provides Daily Flights

Hawaiian Airlines will be escalating its service from five flights a week to daily year-round nonstop flights connecting Sydney and Honolulu from December 14.

An increase in demand from April’s peak season guided the carrier to enhance its flight departure ex Sydney from four days per week to daily, due to aircraft availability. The airline has decided to continue this service from 03 August until 13 December, before commencing year-round daily service on 14 December.

Hawaiian Airlines senior vice president of marketing and sales Glenn Taniguchi stated that Australians are increasingly finding immense value in Hawaii vacations, and demand for their services has never been greater. He also added that the arrival of another aircraft later this year will allow them to meet the increased demand commencing in December.

Korean Air Commences A380 flights to Narita, Hong Kong

Korean Air has introduced its first-ever Airbus A380 commercial flights with services connecting Seoul Incheon and both Narita and Hong Kong.

Korean Air has ordered 10 A380 aircraft with the first 5 to be delivered by the end of 2011 and the left behind five by 2014. The airline will gradually develop its A380 services to popular short-haul routes in Asia, such as Bangkok from mid-July, followed by long-haul routes to chief destinations in Europe and North America, such as New York in August, Paris in September as well as Los Angeles in October 2011.

Korean Air is configured in a three-class layout with something like 407 seats in total, the lowest configuration of any A380 operator thus far. Korean Air’s double-decker A380s feature 12 First Class Kosmo Suites and 301 Economy Class seats on the main lower deck, and 94 lie-flat Prestige Sleeper seats in Prestige Class(business class) on the upper deck.

Strategic Airlines plans to start US flights in September

Newcomer Strategic Airlines plans to begin flights to the USA as early as September this year, taking on Qantas Airlines, United Airlines and Virgin Australia through its alliance with Delta in the battle for trans-Pacific travelers.

The airline, which is reportedly poised to rename itself Air Australia, has obtained permission from the International Air Services Commission for an unlimited number of passenger flights to the US.

The outcome is that business travelers can look forward to increased competition on American routes and lower fares as a result of Strategic's appearance on the lucrative US route.

Strategic says it plans to start the flights this September but the airline won't be able to offer direct services, however, as its Airbus A330 aircraft will need a stopover in Honolulu before continuing to the west coast , which could be done with its own aircraft or by code-sharing with a US-based airline partner.

Award-winning airline Jazeera Airways announced today that it added extra flights to the summer schedule to include flights to Istanbul and additional flights to Dubai, Jeddah, and Damascus, giving travelers more options, flexibility as well as frequency.
