  American Airlines and Japan Airlines declare Joint Business Benefits for Trans-Pacific Clients

Japan Airlines (JAL) and American Airlines (American) announced today the execution of the next phase of their joint business through joint selling in Japan commencing February 1, 2011.

The two airlines have more strongly coordinated most of their business class and economy class carrier-filed fares for North America-bound flights originating from Japan effective April 1, 2011 - the day the airlines commence their trans-Pacific joint business.

As a consequence of the two airlines’ tighter relationship and closer coordination, it will now be easier for clients to take advantage from carrier-filed discount fares for itineraries using both airlines as well as a grouping of different classes of service. A few combinations of carrier-filed fares within Economy Class will also now be available. Arik Air currently flies to nine international destinations in West Africa and beyond, including New York, Johannesburg and London from hubs in Lagos and Abuja.

Accruing miles varies according to sector and once a sector has been traveled, customers have the ability to redeem a domestic flight within 14 working days.

  Qantas Airways to Connect Sydney and Brisbane with Dallas

Qantas Airways will introduce flights from Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth this May, with the return leg routing through Brisbane. On the other hand, the airline will drop existing flights from Sydney to San Francisco.

The four times-weekly service (departing Sydney on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) will begin on May 16,2011 using Boeing 747-400 aircraft. The outbound leg will operate directly from Sydney to Dallas, while the inbound leg will route via Brisbane.

Interestingly Qantas says that the flight is being sold as a three-class offering (as opposed to the usual four-class economy, premium economy, business class and first class offering). As a consequence of the new Dallas service,Qantas route between Sydney and San Francisco will be dropped on May 14. The carrier will also develop its commercial relationship with fellow Oneworld member American Airlines, whose chief hub is at Dallas Fort Worth.

  Japan Airlines and American Airlines Venture Into Joint Business Benefits for Trans-Pacific Consumers

  Rewards Program of South West Airlines Revamped

In order to attract more business travelers, Southwest Airlines has rolled out a revamped frequent-flyer program.

The program, set to be launched on March 1, will replace the ancient system, whereby frequent-flyer credits were based on the number of trips taken with a new one, in which points accrue based on fares.

Distinct from the old program, points will not end and they will be utilizable for any seat, with no blackout dates. Clients will also have the new alternative to use their Southwest points toward global flights.

  Etihad Airways Introduces Flights To Bangalore

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has introduced flights to its eighth destination in Bangalore,India.Currently Etihad operates 4 return flights a week to Bangalore.

The airline would augment to a daily service on the route from March 25, 2011 at the beginning of its summer scheduling season.

Neerja Bhatia, Etihad Airways Country Manager in India stated that India is an immensely significant market for Etihad and that they also operate to more destinations in India than any other country.

Etihad operates a two class Airbus A320 on the novel Bangalore route configured to accommodate 140 passengers with 20 in Business class and 120 in Economy class.

With the inclusion of Bangalore, Etihad flies to 8 Indian destinations, counting the cities of New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and Kochi with a totality of 49 flights to India per week.

Emirates will be escalating its commitment to Switzerland on 1st June 2011 by commencing daily flights between Thailand, Dubai and Geneva.

The new service will be operated with a grouping of Boeing 777-200LR and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, in a three-class configuration, offering Private Suites in First Class, lie-flat seats in Business Class, and Economy Class.

Emirates presently offers double-daily flights between Dubai and Zurich.
