| Continental Airlines and Brussels Airlines to Commence Codeshare Flights |

Business Class Travel » Air Travel News Air Travel NewsMonday, August 9, 2010Star Alliance partners Continental Airlines and Brussels Airlines announced plans to begin codesharing on Continental’s trans-Atlantic flights connecting New York and Brussels, as well as on chosen flights operated by each carrier on both sides of the Atlantic. Effective August 9, 2010, Continental will place its “CO*” code on selected Brussels Airlines-operated flights connecting Brussels and nine cities in Europe.The codes will also be placed between Brussels and 12 cities in Africa At the same time, Brussels Airlines will place its “SN*” code on Continental’s daily flights between Brussels and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, as well as on selected flights to five U.S. destinations operated by Continental beyond New York/Newark . Jim Compton, Continental’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. stated that This agreement will provide Continental customers faster as well as easier access to a dozen cities in Africa, as well as additional cities in Europe.He stated that they were aware that their customers will welcome the increased travel options this partnership provides, as well as the high standards of service offered by Brussels Airlines. Brussels Airlines’ Executive Vice President Network and Strategy, Erik Follet stated that this new partnership with Continental Airlines ,Brussels Airlines can currently offer their passengers an immense travel solution to New York via the very suitable Newark airport and to numerous other significant U.S. destinations presently lacking in their network offer.He stated that this is another example of the numerous fresh benefits the recent Star Alliance membership offers their clients.
