The aircraft will also feature Air France’s fresh business class with enhanced lie-flat seating, more USB and power connections, and improved dining options.As the new planes can hold significantly more passengers, flight frequency will be downgraded from 21 per week to 14 commencing June 6. American Airlines has commenced new flights between New York and Tokyo due to excessive demand.
The carrier will persist with its existing route connecting New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tokyo's Narita airport but the new service will land at Haneda airport, which is nearer to the centre of Tokyo. The service will utilize a Boeing 777 and will provide 247 seats in total consisting of 16 first class, 37 business class as well as 194 in economy class. Haneda is one of the busiest in the region and the fourth busiest in the world as around 70 million passengers pass through it every year. Also since it is also the chief air hub for domestic flights,American Airlines believe the new service will assist those travelers planning to take constant connections to other cities in Japan. Qatar Airways announced today their plans to commence flights to the southern Iranian city of Shiraz.The airline will begin twice-weekly flights from its Doha hub to Shiraz International Airport on June 5. Shiraz will turn out to be the airline’s 101st worldwide destination and third route to Iran. The carrier by now operates double daily services to the capital city of Tehran and five-flights-a-week to Mashad in northern Iran.
The launching of the new route further enhances Qatar Airways' commitment to Iran, where it first commenced operating services to the country in 2004 with the launch of the Tehran route, followed a year later by Mashad.The latest services will be operated with the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft, which consists of 12 seats in Business Class and 132 in Economy. Traffic for the latest route is expected to come from around the Gulf region as well as Europe and North America. Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker stated that the launch of flights to Shiraz supported the company’s business plan of operating to significant cities around the world . Air New Zealand has raised its international fares by an average of 3 per cent to wrap the escalating cost of fuel. Its fare increase adds $100 to the cheapest return economy ticket from Auckland to London, effective from February 21. An Air New Zealand spokeswoman stated that flights from Wellington to Australia had not gone up, but that departure from Auckland and Christchurch had.
Air New Zealand also lifted fares to Australia and the appeasing Islands by a similar amount late last year. Back then, domestic tickets between the main centres rose as much as 17 per cent in the wake of budget airline Pacific Blue leaving the market. Several international airlines, including Qantas, have announced fare increases lately to recompense for the rising cost of fuel. House of Travel retail director Brent Thomas stated that the relatively modest increases would not impact on demand for travel. He also added that the airlines certainly haven't made a lot of money over the last few years and this will be a chance to make sure they are covering their costs, but hopefully that is not going to discourage people from traveling. Lufthansa schedule will soon be extending the list of A380 destinations. From 10 May 2011, Lufthansa Airlines will operate a daily A380 service to the Californian city San Francisco under the present flight numbers LH 454 and LH 455, replacing the Boeing 747-400 service presently provided on this route.
The new Lufthansa flagship is configured with 526 seats (8 in First Class, 98 in Business Class and 420 in Economy Class), providing passengers exceptional levels of comfort. Ticket prices for an A380 flight do not vary from regular fares on this route. Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, Lufthansa’s Head of Hub Management at Frankfurt stated that their customers were thrilled with their new flagship, and what draws most praise is the new, quiet cabin. Delta Air Lines announced lately a significant investment in its international fleet : a premium economy section, named as Economy Comfort, on all long distance international flights this summer. The fresh seats will feature up to 4 extra inches of legroom and 50 percent more recline than the airline's standard international Economy class seats.
The product that is similar to upgraded Economy services, presently available on flights operated by Delta's joint venture partner Air France-KLM, will be fitted in the first few rows of the Economy cabin on more than 160 Boeing 747, 757, 767, 777 and Airbus A330 aircraft by this summer. In addition to extra leg room and recline, clients seated in Economy Comfort will board early and avail complimentary spirits throughout the flight. These benefits are in addition to Delta's standard international Economy class facilities, along with complimentary meals, beer, wine, entertainment, blankets and pillows.In-seat power will also be available on aircraft equipped with personal entertainment systems. British Airways initially revealed that they were to make important 2011 expansion of their latest cabin in January. Four extra flights will be added to the airline's daily service to Vienna commencing 27th March. The additional Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights will be served by an Airbus A340-500, providing 12 First Class Private Suites, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 204 seats in Economy Class. Beginning 1st September, Emirates daily flight to Hamburg becomes dual daily. The additional frequencies are supported by a Boeing 777-200, also in a three class configuration. Salem Obaidalla, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation stated that by offering these extra flights, they were responding to strong requirements for added capacity on the Vienna and Hamburg routes.
