Business Class Travel » Air Travel News Air Travel NewsMonday, June 28, 2010Qatar Airways has launched planned daily flights to Brazil as well as Argentina marking the national carrier's venture into South America.Brazil's largest city Sao Paulo and the Argentinean capital Buenos Aires have become a part of the airline's increasing list of destinations, taking the Doha-based carrier’s global network up to 92 destinations globally. Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar al-Baker led a delegation of dignitaries on the inaugural flight QR921 from Doha to Sao Paulo and further on to Buenos Aires.They consisted of Brazil's ambassador to Qatar, Anuar Nahes and Argentina's ambassador Ruben Caro. ![]() Airport functions, featuring a cake-cutting ceremony and speeches, were conducted on reaching both cities, attended by government, airport as well as business officials. Al-Baker stated that just 13 years ago,Qatar Airways commenced an ambitious plan by launching an airline that would spread its wings far and wide and provide the highest levels of service and hospitality. He also added that they were proud that they have achieved a significant feat, stretching their award-winning service to South America by serving both Brazil and Argentina, which takes their global network up to 92 destinations across six continents.
