Deloitte suggests reason for cautious optimism heading into the holiday and winter travel season |
Air Travel NewsWednesday, November 25, 2009According to a survey done by Deloitte in United States, 45 percent people would take a vacation or leisure trip that is staying overnight in a lodging facility, such as a hotel, motel from the beginning of Thanksgiving week through March of next year. According to the survey: 18 percent will travel overnight and stay at a lodging facility during the Thanksgiving week and weekend 22 percent will travel overnight and stay at a lodging facility during December through New Year's Day 32 percent will travel overnight and stay at a lodging facility after New Year's Day through March. Thai Airbus 340-600 will depart from Dubai daily at 2250 and reach Bangkok at 0805 hours the next day. In this Airbus it has introduced eight first class seats, 60 Business class seats and 199 Economy seats. This is the first time First Class seats have been offered on Thai between Dubai and Bangkok and represents the airline’s continued confidence in the region and its growing premium market segment, according to general manager UAE and Middle East Manan Boonyachai. From May 2, travelers will be able to fly from Washington Dulles to Accra, Ghana. From April 18, United Airlines will fly to Bahrain also. Passengers flying on a nonstop Washington Dulles-Kuwait flight will now have the option to continue on to the "Kingdom of the two seas". A non stop service from Chicago to Brussels will begin from March 28. United will be the largest carrier at Chicago's O'Hare and this new route will make it extremely convenient for travelers looking to fly to and from many cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Google has tied up with Boingo Wireless, Advanced Wireless Group and Airport Marketing Income to provide this facility. Some of the participating airports include Austin, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Miami, Nashville and San Diego. Google will offer free Wi-Fi indefinitely at both airports in Burbank, CA and Seattle. Analysts reported that this painful plan cost thousands of United workers their jobs but probably saved the carrier from financial catastrophe ever since the travel market collapsed last winter. United's last Boeing 737, flying as Flight 737, started off from Washington Dulles International Airport before dawn and touched down at every one of the carrier's hubs as it prepared its way to a massive maintenance base in San Francisco. The jet's final flights also manifest the conclusion of an era at Chicago-based United, which had a hand in building the 737, the bids best-selling traveler jet of all time.
