  Qantas Commences Boeing 747 Service Connecting Sydney-Perth, With Skybed Business Class

Qantas lately commenced a daily Boeing 747-400 service connecting Sydney and Perth, taking on challenger Virgin Australia over the well known coast-to-coast service.

The Red Roo 747-400 will run as QF581, which leaves Sydney at 10.10am will arrive in Perth at 1.05pm.The partner QF582, which is wheels-up at Perth at 2.35pm will arrive in Sydney at 8.20pm.

The jumbo sports Qantas original two-class configuration consists of 56 business class seats and 356 economy and does not include a premium economy cabin. Business-class passengers will be granted noise-reduction headsets.Additionally,the flights will serve one meal each way-lunch on QF581 out of Sydney and dinner on QF582 out of Perth.

  Oman Air to purchase seventh A330 aircraft

Oman Air is about to obtain its seventh Airbus 330-200 aircraft very soon.Head of the Senior Management Affairs of Oman Air Abdul Aziz Bin Saud Al Raisi stated that the decision to acquire the A330 aircraft was taken bearing in mind the appropriateness of the aircraft and meeting their long term approach to operate a proficient and reliable fleet with proven operating costs.

The aircraft comprises of two classes, one economy class and the other one business class.The aircraft can put up 20 passengers in the business class and 196 in the economy class.

The economy class seats will provide adaptable headrests and footrests as well as individual 10 inch video screens. The business class seats will provide lie-flat seats, electrically controlled backrest and leg rest, a buddy seat as well as a 17-inch in-flight entertainment screen.

  United Airlines Introduces Daily Nonstop Flights Connecting Los Angeles and Shanghai

United Airlines will introduce its first ever service connecting Los Angeles and Shanghai, China,with daily nonstop flights from the airline's hub at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).The fresh route provides a link connecting the second-largest city in the U.S. and mainland China's center for finance and trade.

Jim Compton,United's executive vice president and chief revenue officer stated that United operates more routes from the U.S. to China than any other airline, and this new service is a major step in the expansion of their U.S.-China network. The new flights will provide clientele additional convenient options for travel between the two countries.

United Airlines commenced operating flights to China in 1986, it has 11 daily nonstop flights to Beijing,Hong Kong and Shanghai from hubs in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco as well as Washington.

  Lufthansa Allows Passengers To Carry Additional Baggage

Germany based airline Lufthansa has announced a simplification of its baggage allowance policy that will enable passengers to carry more luggage with them when they fly.

However, this time around, this does not seem to be the case with Lufthansa. Their policy change will increase the weight allowance allotted to passengers.

Applying the "piece concept" to their baggage policy, Lufthansa will enable its passengers to take certain number of pieces of luggage with them, free of charge, that relies on their ticket class. Economy passengers will be allowed to carry a single piece weighing up to 23 kg, business class will be allowed two bags with a combined weight of 64kg and first class passengers can take up to three bags weighing 32kg each.

  Strategic Airlines plans to start US flights in September

Newcomer Strategic Airlines plans to begin flights to the USA as early as September this year, taking on Qantas Airlines, United Airlines and Virgin Australia through its alliance with Delta in the battle for trans-Pacific travelers.

The airline, which is reportedly poised to rename itself Air Australia, has obtained permission from the International Air Services Commission for an unlimited number of passenger flights to the US.

Strategic Airlines
The outcome is that business travelers can look forward to increased competition on American routes and lower fares as a result of Strategic's appearance on the lucrative US route.

Strategic says it plans to start the flights this September but the airline won't be able to offer direct services, however, as its Airbus A330 aircraft will need a stopover in Honolulu before continuing to the west coast , which could be done with its own aircraft or by code-sharing with a US-based airline partner.

  Emirates To Improve Connection Options Through Its Dubai Hub

Emirates is adding a third daily flight to its Sydney-Dubai route so travellers can make faster connections to Europe, an airline speaker confirmed to Australian Business Traveller today.

The early-morning flight EK415 (leaving Sydney at 0600) is specifically scheduled to arrive into Dubai at 1330 for same-day connections to London, Munich, Paris, Rome, Milan, Zurich, Athens and Moscow.

In the return direction, the flight leaves Dubai at a connection-convenient 0140 to arrive in Sydney at 2230. Distinct Emirates' Daily Airbus A380 Flight to Sydney which extends to Auckland, the new flights won't cross the Tasman before returning to Dubai.

Business travellers from provincial Australia have particular reason to celebrate. Emirates will put up connecting passengers in first and business class overnight at the Stamford Plaza hotel at Sydney Airport so they can be sure to make the early flight to Dubai.

  British Airways Doubles The Flights To Rio de Janeiro

British Airways is increasing its services to Brazil by doubling its weekly frequency to Rio de Janeiro from three to six flights.

Flights to Rio de Janeiro will now depart Heathrow for Rio every day, except Mondays. The departure time remains at 12.15pm, landing in Rio at 9.55pm local time. The flight will continue to be served by a three class B777, enabling customers to choose from World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premier economy) and the airline's fully flat beds in Club World (business class).

Neil Cottrell, British Airways' head of network planning believed that they are experiencing a real increase in demand for Rio and by doubling the number of frequencies, they are able to offer their customers more choice and greater availability. Additionally, he also stated that Brazil is also experiencing strong economic growth and this capacity increase is a great opportunity for British Airways to be part of that growth.

  American Airlines Introduces New Service to Finland

American Airlines lately commenced seasonal continuous services connecting Chicago O'Hare and Helsinki. The airlines will fly one daily round-trip flight on the route through Oct. 29. American Airlines will fly the route on Boeing 767-300 aircraft set up with 30 lie-flat business class seats as well as 195 seats in coach.
