  Lufthansa Airlines to Commence Operation of A380 On Miami Route

The gamut of Lufthansa A380 destinations in the USA is escalating: Miami will be the next US destination to be served by the carrier's flagship A380. Commencing June10 2011, Lufthansa will be operating A380 flights from Frankfurt to Florida on a daily basis.

The world’s leading passenger aircraft is replacing a Boeing 747-400 presently serving this route, utilizing the existing flight numbers LH 462 and LH 463. The cabin accommodating 526 passengers will be set up with 8 seats in First Class, 98 in Business Class and 420 in Economy Class, all in exceptional comfort.

However, fares on the A380 flights will be same as the regular price on this connection. Miami will in addition be served on a daily basis from Zurich by SWISS with an Airbus A340. During the winter flight schedule, Lufthansa recommence direct flights to Miami from Dusseldorf with an Airbus A330-300, primarily in early October with three weekly flights, mounting to daily service from November.

Lufthansa is the first airline to operate A380 at the Miami International Airport.

  KLM Introduces Flights to Xiamen

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has introduced flights to Xiamen International Airport in China.The fresh planned service brings the occurrence of weekly flights from Amsterdam to Greater China to a total of 73.

KLM provides a total of 53 weekly services to China along with partner China Southern Airlines.

The flights to Xiamen will be functioning three times a week. Flight KL883 to Xiamen leaves from Schiphol on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, while flight KL884 departs from Xiamen on Mondays,Wednesdays and Fridays, reaching Amsterdam the same day.

KLM President & CEO Peter Hartman stated that with this seventh destination in China, KLM strengthens its position in this significant market. KLM is the significant operator of flights connecting Europe and Greater China. The KLM network ensures even better associations connecting mainport Schiphol and China, generating additional job opportunities and business establishment potential for the Netherlands.

  Continental Airlines to Install Lie-Flat Seats to Attract Business Travelers

Continental Airlines stated recently that all of its Boeing 757-200 jets will be installed with lie-flat seats in business class.

Airlines are competing to put lie-flat seats into their premium cabins in order to lure travelers prepared to pay extra for comfort on long flights.

Continental has 41 Boeing 757-200s, which it utilizes on international flights connecting its hub at Newark, N.J., and Europe. In December, Continental fulfilled installing similar seats on its 22 Boeing 777 aircraft.

Sister airline United stated that it will have 10 Boeing 777s with flat-bed seats in first class and business class in April and has put them in its Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft that is used on international flights.

Both the airlines are owned by United Continental Holdings Inc.

  New Service Provided By Bangkok Airways

  Jazeera Airways Includes Additional Flights to Summer Schedule

Award-winning airline Jazeera Airways announced today that it added extra flights to the summer schedule to include flights to Istanbul and additional flights to Dubai, Jeddah, and Damascus, giving travelers more options, flexibility as well as frequency.

- Istanbul : 2 flights a week for the Ideal getaway
- Jeddah : Presently daily, except for Fridays
- Damascus: Two extra flights, presently 12 flights a week


Effective March 27, the latest schedule is perfect for business, same-day shopping, or short visits to acquaintances in Dubai, Damascus, Jeddah, Istanbul or any of the airline's 17 destinations.

The schedule will comprise seasonal flights to Istanbul two times a week between April and October, giving travelers extra options for their summer holidays as well as getaways.

  Dana Air Boss Awarded Airline CEO of the Year

Chief Executive Officer of Dana Air, Jacky Hathiramani, has been named the 'Airline CEO of the Year 2010' at the most prominent air transport award held in Nigeria – the Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV) Awards. The awards ceremony was held on 12th March, at the Ocean View Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the NIGAV Awards Committee, Hathiramani clinched the award for his excellent leadership and zeal for excellence which has seen Dana Air grow to become one of Nigeria's top airlines in just over two years of its operations, and his exceptional contributions to the expansion and progress of the aviation industry.

  Finnair Provides Quick,Consistent Flights Between Korea and Europe

Finnair, Finland’s flagship carrier, has evolved as a practical flight option for several Korean business and leisure travelers heading to Europe. This is on the back of its competitive pricing policy, customized client services and suitable connecting flights at Helsinki International Airport.

In an discussion with The Korea Times, Jani Peuhkurinen, representative director of Finnair Korea stated that it takes just nine hours to fly to Helsinki from Incheon, stressing the airline has been offering prompt, consistent and secure flight services since June 2008.

Finnair’s country manager stated that the airline achieved a better than 80 percent booking rate just two months subsequent to its launch. He added that it was able to sustain its operation here through the worldwide financial crisis as more Koreans flew Finnair, in spite of the overall sluggish global travel demand.

It presently operates 6 flights between Incheon and Helsinki and the number of weekly flights will raise to seven later this month.

  Etihad Airways Increases Frequency From Manchester

Etihad Airways has announced it is to double the frequency of its service connecting Manchester and Abu Dhabi from August 2011.

The decision will take the number of flights from the northern airport from 7 to 14 each week, more than the intended 10 a week earlier announced.

Etihad stated that it persists to build its dedication to Manchester and the north west region of England subsequent to the opening of its first and business class lounge at Manchester Airport in November 2010.

  KLM to Capture Havana Route

KLM will capture functioning of subsidiary Martinair's route connecting Amsterdam and Havana this winter, as the latter stops passengers flights by the end of the year.

Martinair at the moment operates routes including Cancun and Havana on behalf of KLM, with up to six flights per week to Cuba using Boeing 767-300 aircraft configured for economy and Comfort Class seating.

Martinair will discontinue flying the Havana route at the end of October, with KLM taking over on October 31 and providing a three-times weekly service using MD11 aircraft configured for 261 economy as well as 24 world business class seats.

Martinair will cease all passenger services by the end of 2011, in order to concentrate completely on its air freight activities.
