  Singapore Airlines to Launch Fourth Flight From Jeddah Soon

Singapore Airlines will include fourth flight frequency between Jeddah and Singapore, complementing present 3 times weekly services every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.These services will be operated with A330 aircraft with improved features in both Business Class and Economy Class.

Singapore Airlines is amongst the first main Asian carriers to operate flights into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1979, with the beginning of services into (then) Dhahran-Airport. For commercial reasons, Singapore Airlines shifted operations into Jeddah since August 1997.

Singapore Airlines General Manager Middle East, Mr.Vinod Kannan stated that since the beginning of operations into Jeddah, Singapore Airlines has obtained overwhelming support and patronage from diverse travelers from Jeddah, especially businessmen and holiday makers traveling to the Far East. He also added that in acknowledgement of their gratitude towards their customers and their pursuit to enhance services, Singapore Airlines will now offer the choice of fourth flight every Sunday from Jeddah to Singapore, with connections to several countries like, Australia, China, Indonesia, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Philippines, to name a few.

  Iberia Introduces "Business Club", Fresh Seating Class For Medium-Haul Flights

Iberia Airlines formally launched its new Business Club class for business travelers on the airline's longest medium-haul flights on October 21. The first flight equipped with the fresh seating class take off yesterday from Madrid to Malabo in Equatorial Guinea. Business Club seats will also be offered on flights between Spain and Lagos, Moscow, Tel Aviv, and Cairo.

The new class is a segment of Iberia's Strategic Customer Service Improvement Plan, which led to the redesign earlier this year of the Business Plus class on the Spanish airline's long-haul flights, and the introduction of new comfort-enhancing services such as special access and "Fast track" movement through security controls, the extension of boarding by cell phone options to more destinations, and the upgrading of Iberia's VIP lounges.

The 14 seat Business Club section has 2 seats on each side as well as 1.27 metres of separation between rows. The extra-large, 55-cm-wide seats are of totally new design, with adjustable backs, head rests, leg rests and foot rests. It also includes an individual coat hook and a number of spaces for suitably accommodating personal items.

Each Business Club passenger may use the latest Play Station Portable (PSP), with an LCD screen, to watch late-release high-definition films or television series, or to listen to the ten audio channels with a range of musical options.

  Egypt Air Plans To Enhance Mumbai-Cairo Service From November

Cairo-based Egypt Air plans to improve frequency of its services from the city from next month.The airline presently operates four flights a week from Mumbai to Cairo.

Egypt Air’s General Manager (India), Mr Ahmed Wasfy, stated recently that they would be enhancing their flight frequency from Mumbai. He also added that they will launch the fifth service on the Mumbai-Cairo sector from Nov 2nd.

By the end of 2011, Egypt Air aims to operate a daily service from the city. The airline operates a Boeing 737-800 aircraft in 2 configurations - Economy and Business Class on the India route.

Egypt Air that operates in India only from Mumbai is also considering connectivity from other cities such as Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. Wasfy stated that they were quite keen to operate from other Indian cities as well.He also added that were waiting for aircraft deliveries

  Thai Airways Launches Daily Flights To Haneda

Thai Airways will commence operating daily flights on the route Bangkok-Haneda utilizing Airbus A340-500 aircraft, effective as of 31 October 2010 onwards.

Mr. Teerapol Chotichanapibal, THAI’s Acting Executive Vice President for Commercial Department stated that THAI will commence daily flight to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on 31 October 2010, while maintaining existing service to Narita International Airport.By serving Haneda, passengers flying THAI to Tokyo will experience more convenience with flight departures and arrivals that are closer in propinquity to Tokyo’s city center.

From 31 October onwards, passengers will have the choice of flying to and from Tokyo via Haneda Airport (Tokyo International Airport), which is developing from domestic flight handling to include more international networks. Flying into Haneda will provide passengers the choice to better access closer to Tokyo’s city center, which makes travel increasingly convenient for business as well as leisure travelers.

THAI’s Bangkok-Haneda operations will utilize A340-500 aircraft with a total 215 seat capacity : 60 seats in Business Class and 155 seats in Economy Class.

  Qatar Airways To Expand Flights To Germany

Qatar Airways has announced strategies to expand flights to Germany with the launching of scheduled services to Stuttgart and greater capacity to Munich next year.

Stuttgart, to be served 3 times a week, will be the Doha-based carrier’s fourth destination in Germany. Known as the “cradle of the automobile industry”, flights to Germany’s sixth largest city will commence on 9 March 2011. At the same time, Qatar Airways will raise frequency on the Doha – Munich route from daily flights to 11 services a week using Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft.The news comes as Qatar Airways prepares to get on on a enormous European expansion drive with the launch of flights to Nice, Budapest, Bucharest and Brussels over a 10 week-period from November 2010 to January 2011.

Qatar Airways’ new flights to Stuttgart and added services to Munich will see the airline operate 31- flights-a-week non-stop from Doha to 4 destinations across Germany. The carrier by now serves Berlin daily and Frankfurt with 10-flights-a-week.By March next year, Qatar Airways will manage 182 flights a week to cities across Europe, one of the carrier’s key global markets.

The Airbus A319 single-aisle aircraft chosen to operate the new Stuttgart route features a capacity of 110 seats – eight in Business Class and 102 in Economy Class. The aircraft is outfitted with the state-of-the-art Oryx Entertainment system providing individual TV touch screens in each seat and over 700 audio video entertainment options.The aircraft also features On Air mobile telecommunication technology enabling passengers to send and receive SMS and MMS messages, as well as browse the web using their internet-enabled mobile device.

  British Airways Commences New Daily Non-Stop Flights

British Airways (BA) lately announced that it will initiate non-stop daily flights between San Diego and London Heathrow as a first advantage of the official launch of the fresh joint business agreement with American Airlines and Iberia. The new transatlantic service to London is scheduled to begin on June 1, 2011 and will be functioning with the carrier's popular three-class Boeing 777 aircraft.

  Oman Air Commences Nepal Flights

Oman Air lately became the 27th international airline to initiate flights to Kathmandu. The inaugural flight of Oman Air arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport at 17:05 hrs.The airline will link Muscat, capital of Oman to Kathmandu 4 times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Philippe Georgiou, chief officer corporate affairs, who was onboard the inaugural flight stated the operation of flight on Muscat-Kathmandu sector would offer a new boost to the Nepali tourism industry and the upcoming Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign. Georgiou told a press meet on Wednesday that Oman Air has redefined the entire experience of flying and with the launch of this new service, travelers on this popular route will now have the choice of one of the world’s preferred airlines.
